Masks

Masks

A Poem by Caradoc
"

...

"

across the world we all wear masks
a different face for each occasion and person
so consistent in our inconsistencies
and who can say who a one truly is

even so the veil from time to time
sometimes slips
giving glimpses of the
hidden truths beneath

were all the secrets that you keep to come to light
would you finally be set free
would they still love you
if they saw you in the dark

or would the world come tumbling down
should the day ever come when
everyone becomes unmasked

This is a difficult thing. We wear certain masks for certain occasions, don't we. What I personally try to do is always show my heart -- there are some things that just would get me in trouble in certain circles -- as simple as my taste in music to the ladies in my kids' bible group, for example. Now, in terms of structure, an excellent poem as well, although I would probably take out the a in front of a one ... a really thoughtful write.

I wonder too. I'd like to think people look past the faults and accept we are human and less than perfect.
Good poem Caradoc.
