Not There

Not There

A Poem by Caradoc
"

I hoped for something that would never be...

"

When the bell tolled the hour,
I looked for you, but you weren't there.
As the morning sun rose, I searched afar,
But you weren't there.
Evening fell and the stars were bright,
As bright as I once believed you to be,
I counted them all, and named each one,
But you weren't there.
And as the bell tolled the hour once more,
I sought you out, with my eyes, my ears,
My heart...
But you weren't there.

So I abandon hope and depart.

If fate should change,
If you happen to chance upon
Where we used to be,
When the bell tolls the hour,
I won't be there...
