silent heart,
how i wish you'd cease
your screams and
frantic beats.

quit your struggles against
the manacles and the chains,
your railing at the walls
i've built so tall.

you of all should know
i can't ever let you go,
can't let you speak
the words of the soul.

it is treason what you'd say,
to those without;
'i miss you terribly',
'i broke a commandment'
'i want to know you'
'i love you and it hurts'.

some dreams are beyond reach,
some stars can never be caught
what you cannot have
is best left forgot.

fate has done this
destiny turned away.

shattered heart,
give in to oblivion
just lie still
and the agony may yet depart.

for all you've loved
and all you've beat
silent heart,
you've beat alone...
