In the wind and in the air That scent that heralds its coming Swollen greys and unseen stars The knowledge that it's here
A lick of wind that tongues your hair The leonine growl from everywhere A kiss of moisture upon your nose Signs that Eden's Tears are close
A million different things it could entail The growing calm before the storm Each to their own as experience shows To rain in summer, spring or fall
To some it's sadness, forlorn and frail Others a gift which nature does avail Embodiment of anger, fury, wrath Or perhaps a cleansing heaven sent bath
It is all these things and more The oceans in the sky For that is the power of perception Which shapes everything to its whim
So remember when you seek to implore That rain or fate guide you safe to shore Perception molds your troubles and fears Making you the master of Eden and her tears
The mention of Eden put the concept of creation into mind, and it amazes me how you took it and portrayed Eden as something that thrives within all of us through our own perceptions. What stuns me most, though, is your portrayal how perception is a concept to be perceived drastically differently by everybody who speaks of it; some look to it with an imagination that enables them to utilize it for its creativity. Others are not so lucky, where they are haunted by the many signs that come with their perception of what's in front of them.
This was truly astounding, Cara. Keep it up.

Cara, this is so incredibly beautiful... Landreds comments on delivery, perfect... And indeed, there are so many meanings we can find, in this ocean in the sky... So I love your conclusion... That it is our perception, that we decide which meaning to choose for Eden's tears...
I wrote a "song" in my story, My Name is Rain -- I think of you now when I think of writing poetry songs, for I can't write a note-- but it ends with... "in this world of dry souls, rain is a rare and beautiful thing"... My meaning for rain, today... Thanks for coming out to play in the rain, Cara:)

Brilliant! I enjoyed the rhyme scheme.
Sometimes poets lose their way in the rhyming and the poem loses some of its impact in its delivery, but you've manage to hold to it throughout.
And the message is a beautiful one- I think you hit the nail right on the head.
There's something both melancholy and hopeful about the rain...
I'm sure both honoured poets will smile to see this one.
Thank you for sharing, Caradoc!
