Today (Dad)

Today (Dad)

A Poem by Caradoc
"

...

"

Today I opened my eyes for the first time.
Piercing light, a chill, and the sharp pain
Which brought breath to my infantile lungs
Wailing my anger for all to hear,
Surrounded by family...

Today I closed my eyes for the last time.
The fading light, a familiar chill, and the absence of pain,
Which took the breath from my lungs.
Everything drifting away,
Surrounded by family...

Those of the blood and those that became blood.
Celebrating and mourning,
A life well lived, now gone
A life still flowing, unwritten
Father and Son...

I opened my eyes and he closed his.
Today...

Merry Christmas Dad.
We miss you.

The subtle feel in the wordage is just down right...
as I am reading this sentiment type of a verse...
the emotion is deep in the lines...
yet the ending gives us just cause...
a remembrance and part in time...an event...

It's tragic and heart wrenching to lose those that we hold dear, you've a very personal piece here and it truly is poignant.
