After Sara left that day, i sat up in the tower part of the the house and just looked down at the gap in the fence. wondering what could have been there the earlier. curiosity was getting the better of me. I desperately wanted to know who or what was down there. But instead i decided to sit and watch for the night after all i might have just been seeing and hearing things. maybe i was crazy after all. My mom came in the room and asked what i was so focused on. I told her i was just thinking. “why don’t you go down there and have a bonfire? It's just cold enough for one. “ she said as she sat down beside me. I started to say no but if i did have one it would give me light to go see the gap. I agreed to have the fire and i invited Emma and Sara. They came over and we all sat in the yard. We lit the fire in the middle of the yard and had chairs spread around it. i sat in the chair facing the part of the unfinished fence. Just in case i saw something. Mom brought out marshmallows and hot dogs to be made and walked back in the house to get sodas and the cooler out. As she returned we were all laughing and talking and she sat down with us and began to talk too. I wanted to play music so i had to get my speaker out of my dad’s car. As i walked out to the car parked at the edge of the drive way. i heard a rustling. i turned around and nothing was there. so i continued the rest of the way to car. I opened the door to the car and the cat ran out from under the car scaring me half to death. I laughed at myself for being so scared so easy. As i got the speaker, shut the door and turned around, there was someone behind me. i jumped, he seemed like he meant to scare me. “Hi, I’m sorry to scare you, i brought you back your kitten” he said kinda weakly. “uhm thank you.” i replied as i took the cat from him. “My name is Derek. I live across the way, just through to woods if you wanna go the short way and been unseen.” he said as he laughed a bit. “Oh, I’m Clare, nice to meet you.” I’m smiled and looked at him. he was wearing dark clothes, he was very tall, brown eyes, and black hair. he seemed to have a few bruises and cuts on his face but i didn't dare ask. Then he looked up at the sky and said “beautiful night for a full moon. I would love to stay and chat but i have to go, i have things to go do on nights like this, im the outdoorsy type. i will see you around ok? Here is my number if you wanna talk so time.” he said and smiled as he handed me a piece of paper. i took it and put it safely in my pocket. he turned and walked away. Me staring at him made me totally forget i had company over and that i had to bring the speaker back to the bonfire. So i turned and walked into the back yard, to see my mom and friends still talking as if i weren't gone long maybe i wasn't maybe they didn't notice. All i know is i wish that talk would have lasted a lifetime.
