Bones Need to be Buried

Bones Need to be Buried

A Poem by Captain Rilen

Rain's been pelting down,

with dripping and dropping sounds.

Driving into me a downward frown,

and casting a shadow over this town.

While I say things like that,

I'm still staying safe and sound.

I'm not a silly spoiled brat,

I'm more of a hungry hound.

Meanwhile I just sit and lounge,

diving deeper into a hole I found.

A hole dug by myself long ago,

It reminds me of the lost dog's pound.

I still remember my thoughts,

being stuck in that place and time.

I needed to escape those depths,

which lie about being sublime.

The sentiment still remains,

it wasn't hard for me to find.

And to that which it pertains,

I haven't yet changed my mind.

I keep looking over the abyss,

unsure if my thoughts are truly mine.

My memories may be marred,

dear god, don't let them be mine.

Here on the edge of this space,

with a memory lost in events past.

Til the end it will feel like a race,

where I continue to crawl and come last.

"I keep looking over the abyss,

This is my favorite part. It's hard to know sometimes because who we are and what we think are influenced so much by the people we have to do with. Good poetic thoughts Captain. :)
