If Only You Knew

If Only You Knew

A Poem by Captain Rilen

As the trees whisper,
and crickets creak.
Your image lingers,
Your eyes speak.

Your smile falters,
it appears you feel weak.
If only you knew,
the answers you seek.

The world around you,
it's colourful, not bleak.
There will come a time,
when you stand at its peak.

Though now it's harsh,
and you may feel meek.
It won't be long,
'til you're again complete.

My feet press on,
my heart continues to beat.
If only you knew,
what you mean to me.

What a beautiful encouraging poem Captain R! You set the scene nicely with some lovely imagery and then the poem skillfully unfolds to reveal a heartfelt message in the last two lines. Your rhyming, length, message - all perfect. Very enjoyable write. :)
Thanks for sharing!

Hidden thoughts and needs. Can make us insane with need.'
"My feet press on,

The above lines. Bad place to be in. Hiding words and need. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Andronicus sent your poem to me through a read request. I am happy to "review" it but I must caution you that I know next to nothing about poetry and thus, all I can do is share my reaction to the poem. Hope that will be helpful. First of all the sentiment is beautiful -- I could see this on a very pretty card that you would send to a dear friend. A lovely poem. I am glad Andronicus called it to my attention.
