The World's About to Die

The World's About to Die

A Poem by Captain Rilen

Where would you be?

Other than the back of our minds.

You pull the strings,

Keep us ever so blind.

These strings are tight,

Held up by societies might,

Keeping us under the blight,

Keeping us out of the light...

The truth is rarely seen,

Though it's so dazzlingly bright.

The sun keeping the world green,

Should be used in our fight.

Afraid of men in ties,

And their love for anthracite.

Infected by their lies,

Of an economy in strife.

Worry for man's money,

A fear so obscene.

It'll leave us all bloody,

Blood will drown out the green.

Break the shackles now,

Take action against the corrosive.

Or you'd better harden your brow,

You won't like the alternative.

Idle and ignorant,

We'd let time fly by.

We wouldn't even try,

We'd leave our world to die.

Thanks for the review :)
I really like how you metaphorically use strings here. Yes, we are all just letting time fly without really thinking about the damage we are doing in the process. Good work,
