Bike Ride

Bike Ride

A Poem by Captain Rilen

The wind is on my back,
pushing me forward relentlessly.
I keep the bike on track,
As it tries to fall so profusely.

The sun is to my left,
dazzlingly gold and bright.
I see hills with a cleft,
though the gap is rather tight.

The hills are so green,
filled with luscious grass.
Such a pleasant scene,
some true peace at last.

I long to sit atop that place,
to be sitting there at either end.
seeing both sides of that lovely space,
just to see how my writing may bend.

I haven't described the other view,
the one out to the right.
The one woven from mechanical glue,
the one which gives me fright.

Looking there a car speeds by,
causing a wobble of my staunch bike.
One false move could see me die,
An event I would surely dislike.

Though I continue and today survive,
I know not where I go.
All I can know is that I will arrive,
unless my heart does slow.

I like this poem. :) The rhyming is always perfect and you've described an ordinary event in a unique way. Well done. :)

One false move could see me die,
An event I would surely dislike. stay safe :)

i love the two opposing scenes-how the less desirable one is presented later..and how you contrast them by physically placing them to either side of the narrator. great work!
