Troubles of an Aspiring Writer

by Captain Bill

I used to think that

the story was

the hard part.

I thought

editing was work.

Those were good.

Family and friends,

that’s where the trouble is.

‘Don’t write about Billy.

 He won’t like it.’

‘You can’t write that!

That’s family business.’

‘You can’t write about sex,

everyone will think

you are talking about me.’

‘Don’t write about Chinese people,

you make us look bad.  Write about

someone else.’

‘People are nervous about you.

They think

you are going to write

 about them.’

‘You can write about me.

My Chinese name is Ga-ming.’

This is quite a good lyric poem. It takes us inside the family and then to the particular of the author. Well done and well-written. Congratulations.
PS: I followed you here after reading one of your reviews of another writer. I was impressed that you actually gave a critique.

Thank you for your thoughts. I'm trying trying to follow the Hemmer and 'write true'. I end up taking a lot out that is true, but doesn't help the story line.

really enjoyed this...ending is a nice touch
so much in the content is true I have a book but it contains so many true things that I will never publish it just because it may embarrass a few family and friends
but not write what we actually think makes us caring I guess
thank you for sharing
