A Poem by Jessica L Auster

I don't eat food
I eat music
I get all I need
And I'm fine with it.

It was on that Friday afternoon that Lisa saw the skies crying.
She looked up and closed her eyes.
Lisa was the only one who ever saw beauty for what it truly was,
The only one.

Now Lisa wasn't your average girl, she was...how you say...unique?
She never ate her vegetables but she was always very healthy.
She always fucked it up at school but she always came out on top.
Almost none of the other kids liked her
But she seemed to always have the good friends.

Her insides are dying
She's constantly trying
To live without lying
Lisa's now hiding.

It'll be the death of her.
The unique girl at school, never trying to fit in.
Running here and there, her parents will never know the truth
Inside their daughter's closet.

Strange piece this one. Strange tone to it throughout. I like it. Not sure I understand all of it... I love the line about 'seeing the skies crying'. That's a fantastic image. It'll stay with me, I think.

It feels like you holding some of the truth back on this one, that you don't want us to get all of it.. which is fine, it works with the mystery.

Hope I'm making sense... it's Sunday morning and I'm feeling hazy! ;)
