Jagged

Jagged

A Poem by Jeremy Michael White

Jagged edges of a mountain range like frantically torn paper

The sun resting on a peak of triangular circumpunct

Flash for an instant the divison of light and dark

And the road begins to twist under neon streetlights

Crying out the windows like wolves to the joy of night

City lights flickering to the beat of valley nightlife

No one knows the end but the destination is clear

Destination falls secondary to experiencing the path

From downtown to houses to a tunneling mountain road

Beatniks burn and thrive to push on the thrill of the moment

Who better takes advantage of this opportunity to live?

Love, fight, drink and cry - You never know when you will die

Parked in the altitude near a winking and golden peak

Sitting on the hood, reminiscing, and loving the times

Stretched out below the city a series of sparkling squares

The excess of experience births deep passion and wisdom

The expected is in shackles

Random - the new King

Dare to take your right

Dare to drink delight

Free now from everything

The logs glow red and crackle
