Retrieve

Retrieve

A Poem by Jeremy Michael White

Retrieve a pearl from the darkness of a sand

Enter into new worlds, new life, new land

Finally a welcome, a revealing, it comes out

But left without a droplet, drowning in doubt

Receding into the use of illusion

Every item a symbolic allusion

Hiding behind metaphorical devices

Choking on flames yet cold in crisis

Understanding the years, lost on a brink

Suffocating on tears - is this what I think?

Riding the line between dying and death

But brought back to life by the chance of a breath

Flood gates open into eternal madness

Steely, cold rings of darkess

Look at it! The pasture stretches, a Luftwannian hallucination

The face in the double-sided mirror fades to black

And the sun shines his rainbow smile

Bringling Life joy, and bringing Life back
