Surprise

Surprise

A Poem by Jeremy Michael White

A hold it took on me and for long has stayed

Parallel actions to a golden memory

Together is well, but alone I have prayed

That this come to life or soon discard me

Reason, he flies, and lingers above

I'm stuck in a shadow of feeling

Surprise! This strange and different love

Thoughts are evolving and reeling

Wherever to run? No where to hide

Eyes in a headlight, frozen, dead

Somehow it's fine like a coaster ride

Come to the outside, leave the head

In and out the nature of this flow

Sometime there, and some distant

Torn between which direction to go

But enjoying every item and instant

If just to be honest, but I must weave

Life and truth in the stitch of a symbol

It makes me smile, and sad, to believe

The entrance ends on the tip of a thimble

Surprise! Surprise!

Here comes the clouded night

Surprise! Surprise!

The greatest test of ones Might

Answers unknown, uncertainty thrown

Hide behind ones own broken throne
