The Ballad of B*****d

The Ballad of B*****d

A Poem by Capaneus

Faster than a ray of light

and his voice was such a sound

He'd stood among the best of men

but among them was not found

His whole life was conquered strife

    Never had stayed down

But his soul had turned to coal when his heart had hit the ground

There was a time, now lost in wine

When he'd been a virtued man

Held to good, did what he could

    Greeted with calluses hand

Then to his life had come a wife who loved to # around

So he set fire to the pyre and the world began to bound

More places then full towns had been

He went with gold and steal

Every friend was made to bend

    Every # was made kneel

Every heart was torn apart and when he'd deal he'd break the deal

God damn his touch was pain to feel

But God damn he kept it real!

The time went on like a country song

He grew old and bitter and debt

To a nursing home with wheels to roam

    And no visitors save regret

For the path he'd chosen with a mind that'd frozen from betrayal in terminal fret

So afraid of the sting of a bee

    That never again tasted honey
