Talent Been Gone

Talent Been Gone

A Poem by Capaneus
"

a country song about activism

"

(so ya gotta sing this one like you're Jed Clampet)

    Ohhhhhh!!!!
Where has all the talent been gone
Who let all the talent abscond
Where'd all them dedicated people go?
    If you had a conviction
    then you would have convictions
for brawlin and lettin um know

Why aren't there more writers under arrest
Prisons have published some of our best
From Boethius to both of us
    Loneliness
    Ashes and Dust
be damned if Hitler wins this writing contest

There's so much to say about who we are
and Jesus Christ we have come far
but how far have we gotten
    Once we have forgotten
What a b*****d and a bat should have in common

    Scrappy Doo's been Euthanized
    Bo and Luke got 25
    B.A.'s detained on Al-Qaeda ties

The Truth is always so extreme
but the middle's where we been driving
Sure hope there's never one of dem concrete dividens

    The b******s are everywhere
    The b******s are everywhere
    Holy s**t, there's a b*****d right there
    Decency stopped beating um back
And now it's decency we lack
You'd think we'd never lynched us a white guy

The baby was in the bath water
The baby was in the bath water
Where'n da hell'd that Bath waaater go
    pack I fist? I just don't know
pack I fist? It's hard to tell
pacifists are herded into hottest hell

    Now plant your feet
    turn the cheek
    and follow through

    Plant your feet
    turn that cheek
    and follow through

    Plant your feet
    Turn that cheek
Grind a b*****d in the street
We beat them or they have beaten you

    (doon doont
    da doon do)

What kind of a building gets too tall fer it's foundation anyhow?

America was built on? mmmm...yes, the building is too big for its foundation.

we have gone awry...the poets cry out for truth and justice, for being real...and yet...the poets get lynched for stirring up the masses...we all want change, just not on our block...

this has become such a dog eat dog world...peace is gone...judgement is made by the wrong people.

this is an exceptional write...feels like ginsberg or ferlinghetti..traces of the beats...telling it like it is.

Interesting. This is a dilemma written about often but I like the way you put your own spin on it. Tip: Work on your rhyming and try to have a more consistent merit. Also try writing a limerick. I think it'll help when it comes to beats and rhyming and such.
