New Start

New Start

A Poem by Kaspar Carr
"

when she said yes it was fire works

"

She said yes
and my heart burst
and it should have been the forth of July
because all i felt was fireworks

She said yes
and time expand for her and i
and for once in my life
i protested to cry

She said yes
and the joys of my yesterdays
were replaced with songs of love
and chants of everything will be okay

She said yes
and i was open to this new world
full of mystery hope and
laughter

She said yes
forgiven was all i can muster to exclaim
she said yes to a chance
for making her happy again

She said yes
and that became my favorite verb
my vocabulary forgone to
a new start

She said yes
and i understood what i put her through
but she said yes
and i knew that meant "I love you"

and i love you more baby
i made mistakes
and it takes a man to admit
but a woman to forgive

thank you
