Offering of the night

Offering of the night

A Poem by Kaspar Carr
"

we are all offering each other to every one

"

Smoke filled streets with that alcohol stench,
Walking too far, too long,
It's so hard not to stare at the girl's in short skirts,
As they offer themselves to the night.

The knowledge you shouldn't be out at this time,
Empty too often, too strong,
Noticing the men in their blacked out cars,
As they offer themselves to the night.

The money is dirty at a time such as this,
Dead too completely, too wrong,
Stepping into a car with the window rolled down,
As you offer yourself to the night.

You must be dreaming when looking at those pretty street lights,
Unreal too utterly, too lifelong,
The money it glitters like diamonds beneath the moon,
When did you offer yourself to the night?
