That's What I Get

That's What I Get

A Poem by Candice Flores
"

Marriage isn't always glamorous or some fairy tale life, it's about learning everything your spouse does that bugs the heck out of you, but still wanting to be with them. :)

"

You say, where's the remote

Plug in my fan

Listen to me woman,

Cuz I am the man

Get me a pillow,

And a blanket too,

Oh and by the way,

"I love you"

I sigh and I groan,

But what good does it do

That's what I get,

Being married to you

"I'm taking a shower,

Please get me my clothes

Bring me my undies,

But not one with a** bullet holes"

"Let's go to eat but you

Get to pick where"

"Ok" I say "how about--"

"No! I'm not going there"

You're so crazy,

You never let me choose,

That's what I get

Being married to you

Another glass of water,

Compensated with a kiss

Sharing the mattress

Two-thirds his

It's a race against the clock

To go to sleep first

Cuz you snore so loud

I mean, for reals, your snore's the worst

Washing that mystery stain

Finding another lost shoe

That's what I get

Being married to you

You annoy me so much,

But I wouldn't change a thing

Cuz I like our life together

And the joy to me you bring

Even your dumb little songs

About farts, gas, and pooping

You always make me laugh,

Even though you can't sing

I love you a lot,

But I'm sure you already knew,

I guess that's what I get,

Being married to you

Never said it'd be easy,

That'd we'd never make mistakes

But what can I say,

Spending time with you is pretty great

I made a good choice

Marrying my best friend

Because together we'll fight

To no trial cave in

Even when problems be many,

And solutions seem few

Hey, that's what I get

Being married to you

You're my partner for life,

The one meant just for me

A source of joy and comfort

Even with all these pet peeves

You strengthen me always

When I'm sad and down

You look past my pouts

And see a smile inside my frown

I'll love you forever

No matter what you say or do

Because that's what I get

Being married to you
