Later, back in her room. Maria stared at the hankie. HGL, she wondered what his actual name was. She couldn't stop thinking about him, he was so strange, he was either with her or against her. She just couldn't figure him out. The way he looked at her curiously, like he was trying to read her, and then she realised he had.
Her mind wandered back to Salvador. Her fiance. Mrs Maria Salvador. She hated it. Tears of rage filled her eyes, nobody understood her, nobody cared. Why was everyone else so free?
Angrily she stood up, ripping the pins out of her hair. Grabbing her shawl she ran out onto the boat deck, sobbing. She ran as far as she could go, without any people near by, then she fell to her knees sobbing, She hated her life, and all the sad, pathetic people in it, like Salvador. She stood, stumbling slightly. She was going to survive this, she was going to break free, see the world. All she had to do was run away. Wiping her eyes, with the hankie, she walked back to her room, slamming her door. She fell asleep, easily, she was so exhausted. Tomorrow, she'd go see Mr Lowe, and try to figure him out. She just didn't understand him.
