Oils

Oils

A Poem by Candy S. Bott

Blank canvas
handful of brushes
oil smears
creativity sparks
inspired ambition
abstract,
still life,
floral,
scenic
keeping me awake
late at night
I have no idea what time it is
music fills the air
I keep painting
different colors
blending
linseed oil on my hands
turpentine fumes in the air
fueled by adrenaline,
blueberries and green tea
piles of rags
canvases stacking up
until I finally see
on canvas
the images in my mind
painting binge is over
satisfying sigh
now it's drying time
clean up can wait
sleep finally comes.
