Ephemera

Ephemera

A Poem by Camryn Jeter

I know that there will come a time when we both are turned back into dust
There is coming a time when both of our hearts will stop beating and we will cease to hold each other on the surface of this world
In the eternal voyage that is time we exist for a single blip on the radar
So very briefly
But this world has witnessed such glory for the blink that we have lasted
It seems cruel to me for the earth to only have the privilege of housing you for a breath
I genuinely feel sorry for it
To witness such a miracle and then have it stolen away in a heartbeat
I hope to know you until I expire but when your light goes out the universe might as well, too
Thank God it can testify that I had the honor of loving one of earth's greatest
What a privileged universe to have touched your skin
What an enviable girl to have known your heart
