Carsyn #1A Poem by Camryn JeterThis is the first installment of my poetry series named after my sister. The titles will have her name and a number. The name is to identify which series it's from. The number is to identify the poem. When I am old and gray When my sight, my hearing, my mind, my breath, my body is slipping When I have nothing left of me When I have nothing left to offer this world I will remember her first cry Her new breaths filling up an empty spaces in my heart and hers beating like a hummingbird's wings. Inward the first person she saw She will be the last I see Because even though she lights me short fuse and cuts me deep when she doesn't want me I will always want her. I loved her before she was new to this world I will love her until after I leave it. Now that the newness of her has worn off I am watching her grow up but she is still my baby girl She is my first and last love She purchased my heart in our living room And I am hers forever. © 2015 Camryn Jeter |
