Thus Kindly I Scatter...

Thus Kindly I Scatter...

A Poem by Cameron
"

You said you would never leave me...

"

You promised you wouldn't leave me

You said I’ll see you back home.

I thought you said I was all that mattered,

But now, for eternity, I’m shattered.

I thought I was dreaming when they told me you were gone,

But I was wide awake and feeling they had to be wrong.

You promised we would go to the apple blossoms despite the cold,

But it seems that was another lie you told.

Now I’m all alone in a world of pain and madness

With nothing left of you but your memory and sadness

What were your last word to me?

Were they ‘I love you’, ‘I’ll be home soon?’

No, they were ‘Thus kindly I scatter.’

The drugs helps a lot when I’m feeling down,

It gives me a chance to breath where before I thought I would drown.

I feel as light as air then, with nothing to worry about.

When I look in the mirror, all I see is you,

Your face shrouded in disapproval and doubt.

But what does it matter, you’re gone and I’m here.

The little girl you left behind is dead,

Just like the roses you gave me.

And just like you, their petals kindly scatter.

"Were they ‘I love you’, ‘I’ll be home soon?’
No, they were ‘Thus kindly I scatter.’"

I can feel you pain as if it was mine.
