Cold FebruaryA Poem by Todd D. Harris, Jr.New writingCold February Nothing for miles But old Route 66 Dilapidated signs From ancient road trips Have we been down this same road before? A Brutal turmoil exists In our hearts That we wear on our sleeves Rolled up and freezing with the Straps on the top carrier endlessly banging in The wind You and I Take the path None have chosen In cold February Take a picture Of some used gas station That looked as if time Has sucked Dry Doesn't matter That time Will do the same With us As we travel our way To a promised Destiny Roll up the window Drive on now Many miles - ahead The clouds in the distance have an almost alien like Yellow luminescent glow Somewhere across the border in New Mexico Never stepped foot in these lands But it feels so familiar Cold February That time heals; A brutal turmoil within Our road weary paths © 2016 Todd D.
