Gross exertion, infatuation Flagellating the root Of embellished insecurity Begging for a meal of ashes
Early morning pain, infatuation A vulgar companion's invective Reminder of our unworthiness As we consort with teardrops
Inquisitor's interview, infatuation Smiling torture chamber Turning idly in hand the implements That will extract the truth of our ugliness
Gravedigger's labor, infatuation Burying our faces in clenching fists Knowing our hearts have finally done it And sold us out for a smile
rush Sufferer
Gross exertion, infatuation
Flagellating the root
Of embellished insecurity
Begging for a meal of ashes
Early morning pain, infatuation
A vulgar companion's invective
Reminder of our unworthiness
As we consort with teardrops
Inquisitor's interview, infatuation
Smiling torture chamber
Turning idly in hand the implements
That will extract the truth of our ugliness
Gravedigger's labor, infatuation
Burying our faces in clenching fists
Knowing our hearts have finally done it
And sold us out for a smile

The ones we have crushes on always seem to go for what we think are the wrong type - knowing we were right - over time - is of little consolation to we romantic Cassandras.
The crush is a cruel joke of life - it leads us to hate ourselves for not being someone else.
This is strong writing C.
Sorry I missed it earlier. :)

I think my (forgive me) avant-garde approach in naming it came off as flippancy or callowness. It was cathartic to write, as the entity that must not be named was not logged in at the time (as usual hehe). Expressing suffering brings people closer to us, as flotsam is brought closer to a boat when its screws spin up. Yup, catharsis.
I understand mate - it does have a kind of prickly title.

This is incredibly powerfully written. Something everyone can relate to, but I've never seen it so perfectly captured in words. An absolute pleasure to read.

Were I to receive the news of my appointment to the Académie Française in the cabin of my spaceplane while having tea with Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, it would be only a trifle next to the joyous sight of your sweet praise on my screen. Not just kidding.
I am not familiar with Cyrano de Bergerac, or his fate,
but these are words I can certainly relate to.
Broken hearts are fools, knowing full well the agony of
love, they carelessly continue to chase after it again and again.
Indeed, damned fools.
Beautiful piece.
