I'm not familiar with shogi, but it's an interesting thing to know about, and the haiku is interesting too.

I think a shogi set would make a great gift for a young person in your life. I don't think they're expensive; but for all I know, you're like me and tapped out from buying presents ('tis the season!)

Shogi is like a more interesting version of chess. The pieces are quite lovely and the gameplay is very dimensional. Should you write a poem like a game of shogi, your poetic motifs will be advanced and make themselves known at interesting and unpredictable moments, much like dropped shogi pieces (by which I mean placed upon the board by the player who captured them, not dropped upon the ground).

I find it amusing to put unrelated information in the description fields of my poems. It probably serves to reduce readability to some degree, but I just can't resist playing around with text fields.
