Emotions! Emotions! Read All About 'Em!!

I think I'm okay,

But am I really?

I've nothing to say

Because I'm in my feelings.

Sometimes we try to tell ourselves

That we're doing just fine

But our emotions can sell

Whatever we're thinking in our minds.

If you have achieved an equable peace with your troubles, enough to function well, then yes, you may say your okay. The hurt will lurk beneath the surface. The pain will haunt like some lost apparition. And time will drag some days. But okay, while not great, let's you get through the day. Stay strong, my friend.

Perhaps another way of stating it is that sometimes your emotions can tell you what you want to hear. Repressing negative feelings can be dangerous, because they will eventually make themselves known, one way or another. A better way might be to recognize the feelings and let them be what they are. That doesn't mean to let them be in control, only not to deny them. Add some positive self talk, and the bad feelings may fade away.

Ya. The speaker in this poem is trying to tell themself that they are okay, but then they think about it and wonder if they are really okay, or if they are just saying it to either please other people or make themself feel better. What I mean by "please other people" is sometimes when a person is upset and someone asks them how they are, they pretend they are fine and might even say "I'm okay." I've done this plenty of time honestly. Thanks for commenting!! :)
