Hi I'm Phobia - Everyone's Scared of Something

No matter how small a fear is, it is still fear. Look upon it, and tremble.

I'm lurking right behind you,

But when you look I disappear.

I invade your dreams, make sleeping scary

Everyone has a nightmare.

You close your eyes

And I'm suddenly there

Right in front of you

Then I'm everywhere.

Your body's on fire,

But then you're drowning.

There are spiders all over you.

Your heart is pounding.

You're trapped in a dark closet

With no space to move.

You're suffocating on your own breaths,

As though there's no air to use.

Then you're sitting on the outside of a plane

In the middle of its flight.

You fall off with a shriek

Into a graveyard with no lights.

Finally you wake up

And realize I'm in your head,

And that you have a new fear,

A fear of being dead.

Oh gosh..first read of yours.. scary stuff.. gave me chills. I like it..
I read your about me and I too just recently submitted the poems I have written..I never had any one read them and I have had no education in poetry.. Some of the poems I submitted were written in 1970 others are newer.

Well, you are not as old as me...ha ha
But I actually have poems I wrote as a child..age 10 in 1958!! I kept everything I ever wrote..and glad I did. I work and rework my poems now..but I leave the old ones like Scream, just as it was..

Umm. I actually wasn't born in 1958...I wasn't born any time in the 1900s. I'm just a teen lol but thank you I do plan on keeping everything I ever wrote. I'm probably going to put them in a safe box or something

Good idea.. If you really want to write poetry then get involved with a some sort of class on poetry writing... wish I had done that.. I am only just now learning..

Sometimes being self taught is the best way to learn Lisa. It is ok that you are just now learning (btw if you are just now learning then great job cause your poems are great). Sometimes I feel like you get more out of teaching yourself and getting feedback from other communities helps a little more than a class. Also reading other poems..

I only wish I had learned about syntax, syllables, iambic....before because i believe my newer poems are better than my oder ones where I knew none of that.
Even if I have a natural gift it is better to have knowledge..One could not play a decent game of football with out knowing the rules..right..

Good rhyming and good imagery here. I once saw a list of phobias and the length of it was staggering. People seem to have an endless number of things to be afraid of. I only have one that I know of: A certain loud, irresponsible politician.

Thank you John. Yes, there might as well be an infinite amount of phobias out there. People get so creative with their fears. I am mainly cared of four things: drowning (I can't swim), the dark (older people can be scared of that; no shame), spiders, and being absolutely alone in life. #fear
