A Child That is Special

Using inspiration from some friends and my own experiences around special need children

Though viewed different by some, and the difficulties unknown
Those so perfect moments, you’ve seen as they’ve grown

To think as you do, even just for a while
Appreciated more, a shared special smile

As with all children, our wish they succeed
Helping and supporting, whatever the need

Signs of their love are unique it is true
The smallest of gestures bring comfort to you

Some words don’t come easy, or hardly at all
But each day surprises, no matter how small

If only all others, could spend time they would see
The miracles we are blessed, to friends, family and me

What holds for the future, we can’t wait to see
The pathway that’s taken, being all you can be

Delight in our lives, can be seen by our smiles
Each little step forward, actually feels more like miles

Please no crystal ball, or premonitions please hush
Savouring memories in time, there is no wish to rush

You may just not know, how much you are admired
For myself and many others, we’re nothing less than inspired

Facing life’s challenges, my darling we’ll be fine
You’re a child that is special, because you are mine

this is beautiful in its sentiment. Children in general are so special because they are loving and honest.
Special needs children are just who they are...even more loving and honest...they have no need, want or leaning to manipulate...they just give love and need love.
