Porcelain Doll

Porcelain Doll

A Poem by Calyx Danum

Porcelain Doll

Little porcelain doll
Sitting upon a wall
She broke her head
With thoughts of the dead
And now she's trying to fall

She lost her friend that night
Who lost his biggest fight
The friend that she lost
Was a huge cost
That dragged her away from the light

And now she lies awake
With thoughts that try to forsake
With her friend dead
They live in her head
Her sanity free to take

I'm not a huge fan of the line "Was a huge cost" but it was the best I could fit in there.

If the Humpty Dumpty esque rhythm scheme was intentional, then you did it very well, but at the price of that one line you mentioned in your authors note. However, it does benefit that classically creepy "children's song playing in the background of a horror movie" type poetry. Your last three lines are especially fitting.

Odd and a little spooky but in a good way. I like the last line very much.
