Haunting (Revision 1)
My son Torsten David 30 Jan - May 5 1985

Haunting words, cries in the night.
Wakes me from restless slumber,
Disturb my nights help me.

Help me, I plead help me rest,
Keep me from these retching cries.
What is a mother to do, as her baby cries?

Sleep not to be found, she cries.
Hearing mama, mama,
She cries, she walks the hall, she whispers a lullaby trying to soothe him.

The words echo within the walls, mama, mama,
Eluding peaceful dreams, waking this mother each night, she cries.
Her remorse, her blame, she must save him, soothe his soul, as he cries.

Echoing through the night,
She hears them as the wind whispers through the trees.
She hears them within the thunderclouds, as rain begins to fall.

Mama, mama, mama continues as the dawn breaks the skies.
Sleepless nights haunt a mother’s world, evading her days,
She walks, the halls, going about the day, her mind wanders,

Her thoughts of death loved ones departing, ripping her heart in pain.
Do you hear them? The cries haunting through the halls, mama, mama, mama,
Tear a mother’s heart, as she tries not to cry.

Mama, mama, mama,
She’s hears when the birds caw, she is restless, days blur together,
Words run together, she tries to work she tries to carry on.

Others hear cats fighting in the night, within her ears its piercing cries.
Crying babies, children whining shatter any hope, she only hears the ghostly cry.
This mother cries, as the haunting echo’s ring within her ears.

Mama, mama, mama, mama, will the haunting ever stop?
