Not-Goth

Not-Goth

A Poem by The Poet of Black Wings

They say “you’re not goth until you’re not-goth”.
I say “we are, what we are”.

I hear words calling he or she a poser and I hear verses calling I or me a pretender and a true contender.
I watch streets lined up with “real” goths, emos, freaks, and baby-bats.
While doing so I notice something: they look at eachother with such a scorn and keep their ranks torn.

I could easily walk in and join which-ever party,
Sometimes I do, simply for lack of a good time.
I, unlike most, enjoy drifting seemlessly between crowds.
Not because I’m a “fake” looking for a place to blend in, but because I see people, not labels.

Goth, baby-bat, emo, freak. what’s it matter?
I like black but I’m none or neither.
I’m a person, I’m me.
I’m that one that’s free.

I hope you liked theese words of mine, but I’ve spent a great deal to much time, so, I’m off to somewhere else.
Oh, and to you all that think I’m a wannabe-oh-so-full-of-myself,
You can promptly, go f**k yourself.

I went through this exact same thing. eventually we realize the biggest enemy is we, and that there was never any need to group together and hate the other in the first place. I still wear black and listen to certain things, but have no need to call myself other than Me. great declarative piece.

Yeah, people always gonna try but you just do your own.
Honest gritty, but I'd slap a mature banner on anything that curses if I were you.
