ReplicaA Story by CallistoIf you've ever been stuck at the intersection of Cliffdale and Skibo road, you'll know how long it takes those lights to change. So to pass the time, I conjured up a dismal future for that intersection. xP
The sun burned bright in the oceanic sky. It looked over a full intersection, twenty four lane all met at this single spot. But the cars stood silent, traffic lights burned out, skeletons of their former owners adorning the seats. Among the ruins of humanity walked a solitary figure. why his one? Why doesn't he lay in peace with the rest of his fellows? A dark tan t-shirt covered his abused chest, military fatigues protected his legs from the sun, unkempt and wild brown hair swept around his face. “What happened to you?” a concerned voice came from a rusted heap. His stormy blue eyes wandered in that direction through an open window. “It’s obvious you've changed” a skeletons jaws rattled The skeleton remained silence and he moved on. Now he felt the sun, his breath rate increased steadily, he grasped his throat trying to remain in control. He hit the ground almost inhaling a layer of collected dust. When he became conscious again the sun had been usurped by the moon. He got up to his feet, as if he just drifted out of his own bed. “Replica” he concluded The earth had cooled considerably in his absence. Exhaling deeply, the water vapor on his breath was faintly visible. He did so several times, until it no longer amused him. © 2009 CallistoFeatured Review
