You Went SidewaysA Poem by CallieWVU2Love lost...
You went sideways
And I didn't know how to follow.
But I tried, tripping down the hill
Where you once picked me
Daisies and bluebells.
I slipped on their petals and
Found myself drenched in
Their floral sweat.
I could see the back of you
Running faster with each step,
I could only watch you disappear.
Once we had rolled down that hillside
Laughing, because we couldn't stop.
Our souls briefly free,
You turned to me,
And I picked away at the blade of grass
Stuck to your forehead.
You said only this:
I will never run.
