Long Winter In the Morning

Long Winter In the Morning

A Poem by CallieWVU2
"

Wrote this on a blistering cold snowy day at work.

"

Morning came at six and rolled
 over hills and houses, over
 streets and wanderers
 But its warmth was lost
 to them all.
 The cold wrapped inside
 them, jumped in their
 boots, sank into chimneys,
 dug its way down into
 bitter earth.
 Only the wind knew
 and tugged
 at elbows, pulled at
 shingles, gnawed at
 frozen stiff blades
 of grass.
 And the white flakes
 swarmed the grey air like
 a thousand angry wasps.
