Even though Vorn hates work, he can't help taking interest in the case.

knew I wouldn’t be going home tonight. I knew what my plan was now. I’d go to her place, get drunk, probably f**k her, regret it, and get more drunk. I could end up sleeping in a stranger’s bed, or on the cold black streets. I didn’t really give a s**t either way. Just as long as it wasn’t in my own bed at home. When I was there it wasn’t regret I was feeling. It was a numb pain, the worst kind. The sort of pain you don’t realize you’re suffering from till your standing in the sky looking down at the people you loved and thinking how you could have done things differently. That kind of pain sucks. I didn’t wanna feel it.

Vorn’s eyes slowly opened to the world. He laid there in the bed. Half naked with his arm wrapped around an average looking woman he laid there sleeping. This could hurt the ego or boost it beyond measure. Maybe it was so good for her she ended up pass out. Or maybe it was so boring she fell asleep. Vorn always liked to think positive. He’d go with the first as he slipped from the bed slowly like some sort of sex ninja. F**k and leave, never look back, sex ninja code one. He put on his pant, shoes, coat, hat and shirt. Per his code he didn’t look back. Well... Just at the frig. She wouldn’t miss 1 or 6 beers would she...? Na, but her husband might. Maybe this is the last time he’d be visiting. If that was the case might as well clean out the beers and take the whole 12-pack with him. Grabbing a grocery bag for a quick and convent excuses.

As Vorn walked out of the building he protected his eyes from the rising sun with his arm. Heaven knows what time it is. Hopefully no one died while he was supposed to be on the job. It really wasn’t ethnical for a cop to drink while he’s in his office or on the clock period but he had no where else to do it. When he walked into the office with beer in a bag the guys swarmed like kids to an ice-cream tuck. Sorry Larry the guy who always brought in doughnuts. This wise man comes baring greater gifts, even if there for himself. “Sorry guys, these babies are for me.” he said with a smile as he walked through the crowd. They all groaned excepted for Vorn’s one friend in the whole place to whom he smiled and through a beer. “Hey Vorn, how’s it going? You know you were so late getting your butt over here I thought you were gonna call in sick.” Richard told him after catching the beer and walking over to him.

Vorn didn’t speak to him. He just gave him a smile and a wave. He removed his hat as he got to his desk. Putting it beside him on top of the other piled clutter; he leaned forward grabbing himself a beer out of the pack. With one hand he turned on the computer while his other hand and teeth were busy shoving beer down his throat. Vorn always did pride himself with the fact that he could drink beer faster then anyone he knew. And when ever he was drunk you’d probably wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. “Ah... Good morning Candy.” He whispered to his wallpaper as it sprung up. A half naked babe porno star, his favorite porn girl. She wasn’t the type he’d date but it sure was easy to fantasize about this girl.

Well, enough of that. It was time to get to work. Putting down his beer, he sat upright in the chair and started to click around on the police database. He wanted to find out more about there ex-con found dead in the park this morning. Maybe he wasn’t doing anything shade. Maybe he’s more of a victim then he would have guessed. Bingo, Mary Laceheart. Sweet little girl. Only 10 years old at the time. She was linked to him. Having been raped and murdered but the jury saw fit not to charge him after the con’s best friend gave a confession. That guy’s on death row right now. Vorn wondered if Richard would do something like that for him. When Vorn looked over he saw the guy snickering at old pictures form a family vacation with his two sons and beautiful wife. No way, Rich’s got too much to lose. At least he and his family were happy...Back to the case. When a family receives no justice for a crime like that you know someone in it is just itching to off the guy. Didn’t take much to find her mother, she didn’t live too far away. Odd thing is he couldn’t pin point who or where the father was. Must of been one of them guys who left there child. He didn’t like them kind of guys but he understood the mentality behind that kind of behavior. Sometimes kids grow up better if there father wasn’t around. Vorn laughed as he thought of how his little girl would be if he wasn’t around. Probably living the life after his wife married some rich cat. Oh well, now wasn’t the time to be thinking to much. He wanted to have a little chat with the mother of Mary Laceheart.

He turned off the pc and grabbed his hat as he stood up and started to walk out. He pointed with his thumb back to his desk. “Have at it fellas.” He said with laugh as they all scrambled to grab a beer. Richard called out to him but again Vorn only waved as he walked into the elevator door and pressed the down button. As he stood there waiting to hit the first floor he noted something. It was really cold in here. Arctic cold. He could see his breath leaving his lips in a puff of white vapor. F*****g weather man! Or was it the ac? Whatever it was hand Vorn hugging himself and rubbing his hands together for warmth. What the f**k!? Why was the elevator taking so damn long? Just got off of lunch break or something? Taking its sweet a*s time?

Vorn’s mouth dropped open and his eyes widened. Starting from the crack of the elevator door, ice was spreading through out the whole elevator. Soon it covered the walls and the ceiling above. Vorn had sense enough to try the emergency button but it was too late, that was also frozen over with a sheet of ice. Eventually his only safe haven was the floor, and that too was being covered with the glass like ice. “Wh-..what is this! Get a grip Vorn. You only drank one beer! S**t...s**t I’m become a light weight.” He laughed in a horrified manner as the face of the Ex-con replaced his own in that reflection in front of him. The man looked scared, not smiling like before when they had found him in the park. “Johnny Hutson?” Vorn called and wished he never got an answer as the man’s voice came in doubles. The sound echoing everywhere as he screamed. “Help Me!” He repeated over and over as skeleton hands came from the other side of the ice, grabbing at Vorn from ever place in that small elevator. One hand he was particularly not fond with was grabbing at his throat. Seeming to want to claw it out.

Vorn made grunts and help less trashing but all of it was useless. He slipped and fell hard on his bottom. His hat falling off as well as the hands restrained him. The screaming of Johnny was now being drowned out by evil laughter that turned and twisted in pitch and volume to the sound of a little girl. As he looked up he could see her in the mirror like ice, He couldn’t see too much of her, just her outline. He couldn’t tell if she was smiling or not but eventually her image faded as large ice sickles formed above him, seeming like they’d fall at any moment. At this time, faced with death. Vorn could only think of one thing he’d like to say.
