Absolution

Absolution

A Poem by Callum

I seek absolution
pure, unwavering
my tongue is my weapon
condemned of righteousness
I will lay it down, in peace
to be a servant of empathy
wash clean the oppressor
scrubbing my sins until I bleed
I plead for your love
I plead for forgiveness

'.. my tongue is my weapon condemned of righteousness ~ I will lay it down, in peace to be a servant of empathy.. '

This is almost a penance, a search for a place where you feel able to walk and think freely. Surely you find absolution with these words - tis less a poem and more a cry in the wilderness - and yet, tis writing full of emotion and sincerity. Tis sadly beautiful.

Thank you.

I am a servant of empathy and a sinner of word...I guess that makes me ONE F-ed UP individual. :) I love your poetry. It makes me wanna scream and holler and throw things...I guess that makes me desperate for emotion.LOL

Takes a lot of control and humility to hold your tongue when seeking forgiveness. The peace is well worth it however. A short read with a clear vision of what you were seeking to say. Nicely penned.

My pleasure...:)....................
Would be a better world if we knew forgiveness and knew love and kindness. I served with President Clinton. I went to Africa with water, food, gas and medicine. Our team open doors to friendship to people lost and forgotten. I wish we had powerful countries who used wisdom instead of guns. Old wise Grandma saying. "Can solve more problems with sugar than anger." Thank you for the outstanding poetry. Made me think this evening.

i like this because it is honest and filled with humility...i ask for forgiveness because i am not perfect...
"a servant of empathy" ...not someone who is judgemental...i try to be compassionate, understand and forgive..

there is a lot of hope expressed in this poem.
