Me

Me

A Poem by C>C

Sometimes I look around my house

Lookin for a place to hide

Other days I scatter out enjoying the worlds endless sky

But the days are always short

And happiness flies from my grasp

Even though I try so hard

To be me and to be naught

The flames of torches touch my skin

And make me hide in terror

For the me that is inside my head

Is only like a child

Wondering just what she is and why she is so strange

Why people whisper meanly and their silence brings her pain

They lash out and try to steal her away

Hoping she disapears

But that only makes her stronger than their common fears

So what if she's a beast

Who understands but her own language

She roars in her captive cage waiting to be let

But the wounds of man still seeping

She sits to take a rest

She is me and I is her

For our language is the same

And maybe somewhere out there

Someone knows our names

For I am not a man nor a women in that sort

But rather a monstrosity waiting for deport

And when you what I am you surely will know

That she and I are one

A better beast than they can hope
