UNEXPLAINED

A Poem by Caleu Andrade

Grace and poise your etchings stand out like hieroglyphs in a world littered with Gratified sidewalks. Ease your thoughts roll off the page like runny eggs dripping off the plate. I search for a meaning I yearn for a thought such as yours. Gripping and tearing your blood caught my taste and I thirst for more only to be handed an empty slate. "Tender! Pour me a strong one" I scream. He stares at me with Curiosity not knowing to react or turn away he gives me a glance. He knows what my mouth craves he knows what my stomach growls for. With a flip of his thumb he hits me with pain knowing that what I seek can’t be bought he sends me out the door to the quite streets riddled with weary travelers who chase the midnight lights for the answers the day refuses to give. I stare into the blackness for a sign for a glimpse of what may come. The street lamps buzz a song the tune a sweet soft lullaby rock me to sleep cradle my emotions from mind into your arms. I have traveled many miles seen many suns rise and fall and still my eyes starve. Will you give me those sweet words you used to sway the people off their feet, with your dusty suite case painted with past memories I venture to the allies for a fix that will cure my cravings. Abstract faces jaunt out from the brick buildings like hermit crabs feeling the world they stroke me with there claws with every grasp I get spun around soon I’m whirling cavities my body taking absorbing my surroundings with each turn my pores suck in the outside diseases that we call everyday life, my mind getting tired my body showing weakness soon the vultures will feast upon my flesh and then and only then will the true meaning of my wanderings will come to focus.  With a bow I say farewell as the curtains I think of your dying words, “all our words from loose using have lost their edge.”
