A Simple Confession
I told them I loved them in a world where they did not love me. The scorn of the energy that possessed me was not as painful . . . The rejection in their stance was not as cutting . . . The burn of my cheek was not as shameful . . . The sear of their eyes was not as heavy . . . As my wounded and bruised heart I carried in me. The feelings carried in my breast would have broken down like a dam had I not spoke. The seclusion and dryness of the air in me would have introverted me to the wound if I had not confessed. No matter how I thought of it, you had become a part of me and I could not hide it. It would have been far more painful to die with it then to let the word free.
