We proclaim to all the past was better The ice was colder, the p***y was wetter Superpowers, supersonic, surfing the web and mutated chronic The race into space to chart the unknown Playing god, engineering a clone Just as our past was obsessed with our future Now is our present obsessed with our past Great milestones reached in leaps and bounds But nothing is ever meant to last If only they could see us now Nostalgically grazing, Pulling the plough What would they say of this generation Frustration, shame and sharp condemnation So how did we get here When did we turn We look forward no longer For the past we now yearn Truth be told the past was s**t The masses stayed poor and the chosen got rich The system was flawed, corruption was rife God owned your soul And the church ruled your life You fought for your country and you died for your mates You watched self proclaimed leaders keep raising the stakes Political honey was poured in your ears And you gave them power While they played on your fears And deeper and darker you slip into the hole Where powerful people exert their control Protected by lies, threats and murder And pious asylums where molesters harbor Well dressed thieves lived in castles protected by law The justice was weak and the judgement was poor So believe it or not we have come a long way And the worlds still spinning, at least for today So here is my challenge to one and all Start walking forward and start walking tall Our future coming like it or not Block chain, AI and the death of pop Our past like us will fade and rot © 2018 CakeSmooth |
