decay of beautyA Poem by Caitlynn Cusick
falling apart,
pieces cracking, glue no longer taking. pain filtering down, like sand through an hourglass, collecting in my soul like dust on nesting dolls. hiding within myself, not letting it escape, layer upon layer slowly crystallizing, hardening into a shell to protect my broken parts. my mind cant take any more, fibers snapping each day, turning into spiderwebs around my crystal heart. beauty surrounded by pain, the crackle of lightning tears crackle across snow white skin. happiness painted on in the form of glitter and ruby red, a make-up mask to hide tear stained cheeks. life is a charade, crystal heart and layered soul hidden behind the dust and decay of my past.
