Who I Really Am

Who I Really Am

A Poem by Caitlynn Cusick

This world I've come to,
Is not my own.
For I belong far below.

A land of fire, a land of pain,
A place for all of us, the damned.
Yet in my opinion, you are all screwed.
My home will be a welcome place for you.

I live in hell, I work for the Lord.
The Lord of Dark, the Lord of Sin.
He calls to you, deep within.

With an evil smile I'll take you over.
Your mind will be lost, become my own.
I'll take your sanity, twist your words.
And in the end, I'll kill your precious rose.

You shall go weak, my powers draining you.
A fuzzy mind, a few scratches is nothing,
Compared to what I can really do.

She is screwed and so are you.
Give up on her now,
There's nothing you can do.

It's like this poem breathes out darkness. My imagination just explodes with imagery , A powerful sense of the dark and the unknown.

It'd be cool if you put "the damned" in parenthesis

I'd take out the last two lines in the second stanza--took me out of the poem.

Love the third stanza.

I've got a question... Does the poem has something to do with love??? The last line confused me with that...

But anyway...here's my favorite part of reviewing... my favorite lines:

"For I belong far below."
I belong far below too...

"A land of fire, a land of pain,
A place for all of us, the damned."
Fits for the description of the underworld... But I like the words used...

"My home will be a welcome place for you."
Sweet...

"I'll take your sanity, twist your words.
And in the end, I'll kill your precious rose."
I like the symbolism for this one... But this has the air of being a sadist...

"Give up on her now,
There's nothing you can do."
I must admit this part confused me... Because for me, it has something to do with love which I didn't perceive in at start of the poem... But I like this part...

As a whole, the poem is really good. Keep writing...

Different, and lovely. I personally have felt like I was going to hell for being the person I am, and sometimes I even enjoyed being so cynical and sadistic. I felt like there was no help for me, and didn't want any. I've grown past that, and now I'm a pretty optimistic person. I wish you the same, as well as a good day. You're a great writer.
