Bottled PromisesA Poem by Katy Knight"Promise you won't forget me, won't you?"When you look at me, what do you see? I’ll tell you what I see when I look at you. I see hate and despise. But I don’t know why. What did I ever do wrong? I could write you a poem or apologize, but nothing would ever change, would it? I see your eyes when you turn to me, so accidentally. Then you turn away like I’m burning a hole through your soul. But I don’t know why. And I never will, will I? I still remember when you held me, laughing so loudly. Do you remember those days? Or have they just all drifted away. Those memories cast into a bottle, corked up and thrown away; forced to swim along a sea of black, for a hundred nights and days. You will never again search for them, will you? I guess I have to move on, nothing can change how you feel. But nothing can change how I feel either. Goodbye, my beloved darling so rare, I will never find another you. Promise me you won’t forget me, won’t you? © 2011 Katy KnightAuthor's Note
