Dripping

Dripping

A Poem by DJ
"

Beating cancer

"
Drip drip drip
As cold seeps in my veins
Echoing in my ears
As the medicine drains

Drip drip drip
Time is passing by
When the dripping stops
My loved ones they will cry

Drip drip drip
Machines are all beeping
Life flashes before eyes
I see them all weeping

Drip drip drip
See I am still here
I will not let go
Wipe away the tears

Drip drip drop
I am going to win
Drop… drop… stop…
I’ll come home again

The drips had an interesting effect in this one, and I agree with Bob about reading this one aloud. This one brings me to a hospital room with a family waiting to see if their loved one will make it though or not. The second stanza about what will happen when the dripping stops really touched me. That made me think that a new kind of dripping would take place, and that room would be filled with the sound again, just with a new meaning. Well done Cairo.

caught this in my feed and was simply stunned when I read it. The clipped lines, the repetitive words - all create such a gripping poem. Its a hellish fight but it can be won.
What a great write.

This one is wonderful read aloud. The pace of drip-drip-drip is the beat in this and it works so well. ...bob

oh this one really pulls on the heart strings. So simple yet so sad. I like how the last stanza shows determination and strength, a nice way to finish up.
