Peter Pan and the OrphanA Poem by DJAn orphan's dream once dreamt. When I was young I wanted to be Just like Peter Pan He is an orphan too you see But he resides in Neverland A beautiful and ageless place With pirates and fairies Filled with wonder and with grace A place a child was free I sat alone, wondering Gazing up at the clouds Silently pondering How to get there somehow I lived inside a concrete tomb Where I could hardly breathe While Peter Pan just up and flew I was longing to be freed Orphans left abandoned here In this darkened hell Wishing we could fly up there Where happiness was sure to dwell Trapped, alone, indefinitely My pain and suffering was enjoyed My tormentors, my only company I was destined to remain a Lost Boy Wishing on the second Star The brightest light My savior would come from afar Gliding through the night And leave my window ajar And be stolen out of the bed Blanket laid on cold concrete No more tears to be shed If Peter Pan, I did meet I always listened for the Tink The beautiful ring so clear Of Tinkerbell a tinkering Music to my ears As time dragged out I lost faith It would never materialize A fairy dropped, met her fate As the truth I realized There was no tick tock crocodile To slay Captain Hook My dreams deemed infantile An orphan’s happiness Existing only in a book… © 2013 DJAuthor's Note
