The Peace Offering

The Peace Offering

A Poem by Caileadair
"

from a poetry tag I participate in at AncientWorlds

"

soft weeping crept in
from the front room

she dared not question
only huddled in silent dread

walls the guardian
against shared pain,
interwoven sorrow
harsh words thorns of anger

shadows flared in
her memory
when rose petals withered
in the garden and
screams fell into ruin

a lone shadow moved
became still, graven statue

she turned warily
a question in watery eyes

the child stood there
so calm, so somber
bruised, but still unbroken

in one hand, a budding red rose
a soft, silent offering of peace.

This is a very beautiful, wonderful poem. I love the whole idea to it, and it is well-written, and it is put together nicely. Thanks for sharing. :)
