What Color Do You Call Your Eyes?

What Color Do You Call Your Eyes?

A Poem by Cah

What color do you call your eyes?

A shade of sand

     meeting the sea

     meeting the sky?

Bright as ice,

     yet warm somehow.

Framed by a fringe

     the color of copper

                    and gold

                    and earth.

All things of great worth

plaited and tied along your neck.

Matching the quiet quiver

     of your lips paused

     without words

     and pursed together,

     finally, in a smile.

No comment or commitment ever made.

But, what answers ever gave

     themselves to light

     without great bother?

Forgive me if I

     am impolite, but

What color do you call your eyes?

I see them clearly when I stare

and when I look away their

     nature escapes my mind.

          indefinable.

          indescribable

          undeniable.

Your eyes hold such mystery

     as an old dreams memory,

Recalled, yet unyielding

     to the mornings precious moment.

Damn. I remember this from Myspace...it still hold up...and it looks like you may have changed the stucture a little--which I like. A couple things thoughiiFor my personal tastes I want her ice warm more than somehow. i think that I want a simle or metaphor there that is concrete 2) The ending (particularly the last line) may also be a little sentimental for my tastes. But overall a real killer of a poem with some incredible moments.

What color do you call your eyes?

A shade of sand

meeting the sea

meeting the sky?

Bright as ice,

That is some of the best poetry around up there. and The bit about copper resonates nicely. Cheers J.

Now THIS one is soft. I like this side of you.

These are my favorite lines:

All things of great worth
plaited and tied along your neck.
Matching the quiet quiver
of your lips paused
without words
and pursed together,
finally, in a smile.

This very warm and sincere. I love it.
